Safety Tips
Millions of second-hand deals happen safely every month. The unsafe ones almost all break the same few rules. Follow this guide and you'll avoid nearly every risky situation on any classifieds platform.
Meeting safely
- •Meet in a busy public place — a cafe, market or metro station — in daylight.
- •Bring a friend along, especially for high-value deals or home visits.
- •Share your live location with someone you trust before the meeting.
- •For furniture and appliances that require a home visit, schedule during the day.
Payment guidance
- •Never pay an advance, "token amount", delivery charge or verification fee to a stranger.
- •Pay only after you have met the seller and inspected the item in person.
- •Use cash or a direct UPI transfer at the time of handover — never share your UPI PIN or OTP.
- •A request for payment before meeting is the single biggest fraud signal — walk away.
Inspect before you pay
- •Test phones with your own SIM card and check the IMEI matches the box.
- •Run appliances for several minutes; check for unusual noise or heat.
- •For vehicles, verify the RC, insurance and service records, and take a test ride/drive.
- •A genuine seller expects inspection. Resistance to it is a warning sign.
Spotting fraud — red flags
- •A price far below every comparable listing is bait, not a bargain.
- •Urgency stories — "army transfer", "flying tonight", "first-come token" — pressure you to skip checks.
- •Refusal to meet in person or insistence on courier + advance payment.
- •Payment "reversal" tricks: someone sends a request instead of a payment and asks you to approve it.
Reporting a listing
- •If a listing looks fraudulent, misleading or inappropriate, report it via our Support page with the listing link.
- •Include screenshots of any suspicious conversation if you have them.
- •Our team reviews every report and removes listings that break the rules.
