Find used and leftover home improvement items listed by people across India — doors and frames, windows, tiles, sanitaryware, taps and bathroom fittings, lights, hardware and power tools. Much of it is surplus from renovations or unused stock after a house was finished.
Contact the seller directly, inspect the material in person and arrange pickup between you. Olditems takes no commission and never handles payment or delivery.
Tiles: quantity and matching batches
Leftover tiles are a good way to save on small jobs, but only if you get enough of a matching lot.
- Count carefully. Measure your area, then add a few extra tiles for cuts and breakage. Ask the seller for the exact number of boxes and loose pieces.
- Check the batch and shade code. Tiles from different production batches can differ in shade and size even with the same design name. The batch or shade code is printed on the box — buy boxes with the same code.
- Look for chips and warping. Open a few boxes, stack two tiles face to face to check they sit flat, and look at edges and corners.
Doors and windows
Measure the door and frame and compare with your opening — a door can be trimmed slightly, but not enlarged. Check wooden doors for termite tracks, water swelling at the bottom and cracks near hinges. Flush doors should not sound hollow in patches or show separating layers. For aluminium and UPVC windows, check the tracks, rollers and glass, and confirm the size before you pay.
Sanitaryware and fittings
- WCs and basins. Inspect under good light for hairline cracks, especially near mounting holes. Tap gently with a coin — a dull sound can mean a crack. Check whether the WC is floor-mounted or wall-hung, and its outlet type.
- Taps, mixers and showers. Ask if they were ever installed. Used fittings may have hard-water deposits or worn cartridges. Check that all parts, wall flanges and concealed bodies are included.
- Brand and model. A known brand and model makes spare parts easier to find later.
Tools and leftover materials
Run power tools such as drills, grinders and cutters on the spot and listen for grinding or sparking. Check the cable, chuck and battery on cordless tools. For paint, adhesives and grout, check the expiry date and that the container is sealed.
