Browse old and second hand kids furniture listed by families across India — baby cribs and cots, toddler beds, bunk beds, study tables, small chairs and storage units. Children outgrow furniture quickly, so used pieces are often in good condition.
Contact the seller directly, check the piece in person and arrange pickup between you. Olditems takes no commission and never handles payment or delivery.
Safety comes first
With children's furniture, a small defect can mean an injury, so check these points before price:
- Slat gaps on cribs and cots. The gap between slats should be narrow enough that a baby's head, arm or leg cannot get stuck — roughly the width of a soda can or less. No slat should be missing, cracked or loose.
- Drop sides. Avoid cribs with a side that slides down; they can detach and trap a baby. Fixed-side cribs are safer.
- Mattress fit. The crib mattress should fit snugly with no gap wide enough for a baby to slip into at the sides.
- Paint. Look for peeling or chipped paint, which babies chew. For older painted pieces, ask what paint was used; if unsure, sand and repaint with a lead-free, child-safe paint.
- Sharp edges and hardware. Run your hand over every edge and corner. Check for protruding screws, splinters and pinch points in hinges.
- Stability. Push and shake it. Bunk beds need solid guard rails on the top bunk and a firmly fixed ladder. Tall storage units and bookshelves should be anchored to the wall.
- Recalls. Note the brand and model and search whether it has been recalled before you buy.
Study tables and chairs
Look for an adjustable height if possible, so the table grows with your child. Check the top for swelling at the edges, which means water damage on engineered wood, and test drawers and wheels. A chair should let the child sit with feet flat on the floor.
Cleaning before use
Wipe the whole piece with mild soap and water, then dry it fully. Avoid harsh chemicals on surfaces a baby may mouth. Replace old crib mattresses rather than reusing them, and wash any fabric covers in hot water.
