Children outgrow things fast, and Bengaluru parents — especially in the apartment communities of Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, HSR Layout, JP Nagar, Hebbal and Yelahanka — sell prams, cribs, high chairs, car seats, cycles, toys and kids’ furniture that have plenty of life left.
Buy directly from the family that used it, check it in person and pay with no commission.
What to check on used baby gear
- Prams and strollers. Open and fold it yourself, test the brakes on a slope, check that the harness buckles click firmly and that the wheels turn freely. Bengaluru’s uneven footpaths wear out wheels, so look at them closely.
- Cribs and cots. Look for loose joints, cracked slats and peeling paint, and check that the gap between slats is narrow enough that a baby’s head cannot pass through. Buy a new mattress rather than a used one if you can.
- Car seats. Ask whether the seat has ever been in an accident — if the answer is unclear, do not buy it. Check the manufacture or expiry date on the label, the harness and buckle, and that all parts and the manual are present.
- High chairs and walkers. Check the straps, the tray lock and that the frame does not wobble.
- Toys. Look for small detachable parts, cracked plastic and battery compartments that close securely.
Kids’ furniture, cycles and clothes
Study tables, bunk beds and storage units come up when families move between apartments, which is frequent in this city. Check that bunk bed guard rails are firm and that any wall-mounted piece comes with its fittings. Kids’ cycles are easy to check: brakes, chain, tyres and the height of the seat for your child. Fair price and safe dealing
Compare the asking price with the same brand in current listings and adjust for age and wear; items that have been through two children should cost less. Clean and sanitise anything that goes near a baby’s mouth or skin. Meet in daylight at the seller’s apartment or a public place, and never pay a token online, share an OTP or scan a QR code to “receive” money. See our safety tips.
Selling baby and kids’ items
Clean the item, photograph it assembled in good light, give the brand and age, and be honest about wear. Mention your area and apartment name. Our guide to selling baby & kids’ items helps, or post a free ad. See all Bengaluru listings.
