Thane’s housing societies — along Ghodbunder Road, in Majiwada, Vartak Nagar and Naupada, and further down the Central line in Kalyan and Dombivli — list a steady flow of old TVs, sound bars, speakers, cameras and gadgets when families upgrade or move.
Every listing here is from a local seller. Call the owner, see the item working, and pay only when you are happy. There is no commission and nothing is shipped.
What to check on used electronics in Thane
- See it switched on. Most sellers here are in apartment societies, so arrange to test the item at the flat or in the society lobby. Do not accept “it was working last week”.
- Monsoon damage. Months of Thane humidity are hard on electronics. Look for green or white corrosion on ports and battery contacts, fogging inside camera lenses and a musty smell from speaker grilles.
- TVs. Play a plain white and a plain black image to find dead pixels, lines or dark patches, and try every HDMI and USB port with your own cable and pen drive.
- Remotes, adaptors and cables. Missing original chargers and remotes add to your cost. Agree the price with or without them.
- Bill and serial number. Match the serial on the device with the invoice and the box. It shows the item is the seller’s and tells you whether any warranty is left.
Where the listings come from
Hiranandani Estate, Kolshet and the newer towers on Ghodbunder Road tend to list larger TVs and home audio from recent upgrades. Older societies in Naupada and Panchpakhadi list well-used but working sets at sensible prices. Kalyan and Dombivli add a lot of family electronics, and it is often easier to buy there than to travel into Mumbai. For phones and laptops, look at mobiles & tablets and computers & laptops.
A fair price and a safe deal
Compare the asking price with the same model in current listings here and in Mumbai electronics, then adjust for age, condition and whether the bill is included. Meet in daylight, inspect first, and never pay a token amount online, share an OTP or scan a QR code to “receive” money. Our safety tips cover the usual tricks. For a large TV, book a tempo or an app-based goods vehicle and carry it upright.
