Mumbai's lease cycle puts whole kitchens back on the market at once: fridges, washing machines, microwaves, ACs and water purifiers, usually only a few years old, from tenants leaving flats across Andheri, Thane, Powai and Navi Mumbai.
Browse the listings below, see the appliance running before you pay, and arrange collection yourself.
Test it running — every time
- Fridge. It should already be switched on when you arrive, so you can feel that it is cooling. Check the door seal by closing it on a sheet of paper, look for rust at the back and base, and listen to the compressor.
- Washing machine. Ask for a short cycle. Watch for leaks, excessive shaking and drum noise, and check that it drains and spins properly.
- Air conditioner. Feel the cooling, check the outdoor unit for rust — Mumbai's salt air is hard on it — and ask when the gas was last topped up. Budget for installation separately.
- Microwave. Heat a cup of water. Check the door catch and the turntable.
- Age and bill. The rating sticker shows the model year. The invoice proves ownership and any remaining warranty.
Where appliances come from in Mumbai
The western suburbs and Navi Mumbai carry the most, largely from tenants ending a lease. Because everything goes at once, the same seller often has a fridge, a washing machine, a bed and a dining table listed together — buying several items in one visit saves repeated trips across the city, which is Mumbai's real cost. See furniture in Mumbai and ask the seller what else they have.
Getting it home
Appliances are heavy and awkward. Confirm lift access and the building's shifting hours before you agree a price, arrange a tempo and, ideally, help to carry. A fridge should be carried upright and then left standing for several hours before being switched on.
