Find used cameras listed by people across India — DSLRs, mirrorless bodies, lenses, action cameras and compact cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, GoPro and others. Photographers upgrade often, so good bodies and lenses come up for sale regularly.
Message the seller, test the camera in person and pay only after checking it. Olditems takes no commission and never handles payment or delivery.
What kind of camera do you need?
- DSLR. Optical viewfinder, long battery life and a large used lens market. Heavier than mirrorless.
- Mirrorless. Smaller bodies, fast autofocus and strong video. Check which lens mount it uses before buying lenses.
- Action cameras. Built for helmets, bikes and water. Check the housing seals and that the mounts are included.
Body checklist
- Shutter count. Every shutter has a rated life. For many models you can read the count from a photo's EXIF data using an online checker; ask the seller for an unedited JPEG taken on the spot. A low count is a good sign; a very high one means a shutter replacement may be near.
- Sensor dust and marks. Photograph a plain white wall or clear sky at a small aperture such as f/16 and zoom in. Dust spots show as soft grey dots; a scratch on the sensor is a serious fault.
- Autofocus. Focus on near and far subjects in good light and in a dim room, in both single and continuous modes. Hunting or back-focus points to a problem.
- Buttons, dials, screen and ports. Try every control, flip or tilt the screen, and test the card slot, flash hot shoe and charging port.
- Battery. Original batteries hold charge better. Ask how many are included and whether the charger is original.
Lens checklist
Shine a phone torch through the lens from both ends. Look for fungus (thread-like webs), haze (a milky cloud) and scratches on the glass. Fungus spreads in humid weather and is expensive to clean, so avoid affected lenses unless the price allows for a service. Zoom and focus rings should turn smoothly, and image stabilisation should not rattle or buzz.
Grey imports and warranty
Some bodies are imported privately rather than sold through the brand's Indian distributor. These "grey" units may not be covered by the brand's India warranty or service centres. Ask for the Indian bill and warranty card, and check the serial number with the brand if warranty matters to you.
