Delhi has more students per square kilometre than almost anywhere in India, and its used books market reflects it — competitive exam guides, textbooks, reference sets and novels, alongside gym equipment, cycles and sports gear from people clearing space.

Books: where and when
The coaching belts around Mukherjee Nagar and Rajinder Nagar, and the college areas near North and South Campus, turn over competitive exam material, textbooks and reference sets in bulk — heaviest right after exam seasons and at the end of the academic year. When buying study material, the edition matters more than the condition: check the edition and year against your current syllabus, because an outdated guide is worthless however clean it looks. Check for missing pages, water damage and heavy highlighting, and ask whether answer keys, test series booklets or access codes are included — codes are usually already used and should not be counted on.
Sports and fitness equipment
Home gym equipment is one of the best second-hand buys in the city: treadmills, dumbbells, benches and exercise cycles are bought with enthusiasm and sold within a year or two. Inspect the frame for rust and cracked welds, run a treadmill at several speeds to check the belt and motor noise, and count every weight plate. Remember that heavy equipment needs a tempo and often more than one person to move — agree that before the price. For cycles, check the brakes, gears, chain and wheel alignment, and ride it before paying.
