Delhi's eleven-month rental cycle, student intake around North Campus and constant movement across Delhi NCR mean used furniture is listed here all year — beds, wardrobes, sofa sets, dining tables and study desks, from barely-used to solid old wood.

Where to look across Delhi
South Delhi — Lajpat Nagar, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Green Park, Kalkaji — has the most lease-end furniture: beds, wardrobes, sofas and dining sets that come up when a tenant moves out. West Delhi around Rajouri Garden, Janakpuri and Kirti Nagar sits beside the city's main furniture trade, so private sellers there price sharply because buyers can compare down the road. Dwarka, Rohini and Pitampura are apartment belts, good for family-sized pieces. North Campus areas — Kamla Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Hudson Lane — fill with study tables, chairs, bookshelves and mattresses each June and July. Buyers in Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad browse these listings too.
What to check before paying
- Wood versus board. Tap the panels. Solid sheesham and teak are worth paying for; particle board with a laminate finish is not, at the same price.
- Borer. Small round holes with powder under them mean active borer — treatable, but negotiate for it.
- Joints, runners and hinges. Press the corners, open every drawer, and swing each door. Wobble becomes a repair bill.
- Upholstery. Sit on it. Check for sagging, smell for damp, and look under the cushions where wear shows first.
- Fit. Measure your room, doorway, staircase and lift. A wardrobe that does not fit the lift has to go up the stairs, and that costs money.
Moving it across Delhi NCR
Transport is the buyer's responsibility unless the seller agrees otherwise. A tempo or loader across NCR can add a significant amount to a small purchase, so agree on it before the price. Ask whether the item dismantles, and check the society's shifting hours and gate-pass rules — many Delhi and Gurugram societies require one for anything leaving the premises.
