Pricing used office furniture
Office clearances list in bulk and cheap — branded ergonomic chairs often go for a third of new, and bulk workstations for far less per seat. Ask whether the seller will split a lot or only sell everything together. Single chairs and desks from home offices list closer to half of new.
What to check
- Chairs. Sit, lean back, raise and lower the gas lift and test every lever. A gas lift that sinks slowly is the usual failure.
- Castors and base. Roll the chair; look for a cracked base and worn wheels.
- Desks and workstations. Push the top for wobble, check the modesty panel and cable trays, open every drawer, and ask whether the keys are there.
- Modular pieces. Confirm all the connectors and screws come with a workstation — they are impossible to buy separately.
Transport
Chairs and desks move in a tempo; a workstation needs dismantling and a loader. For an office clearance, confirm the building's move-out timing and lift access before you book the vehicle. Agree who arranges and pays for transport before you fix the price.
Buying safely from a stranger near you
- Meet at the address where the item is kept, in daylight, and take someone with you for larger pieces.
- Pay only after you have seen and tested the item. Never send an advance, "token" or delivery charge online to hold something you have not seen.
- Pay by cash or UPI to the seller in front of you. Nobody needs your OTP, and you never scan a QR code to receive money.
