Where used almirahs turn up in Delhi
Steel almirahs list across the city — from DDA flats in Dwarka, Rohini and Vasant Kunj, from family homes in Laxmi Nagar, Shahdara and Mayur Vihar, and from older houses in Karol Bagh and Rajouri Garden. Sliding-door and modular wardrobes come from newer flats and builder floors in South Delhi, Dwarka and across the border in Noida and Gurgaon when a family upgrades the bedroom. The Kirti Nagar and Panchkuian Road markets give a new-price benchmark.
What a used almirah costs in Delhi
Branded steel almirahs hold value best and often list at around half of new even after decades. Solid-wood wardrobes sit a little lower; engineered-wood and sliding units drop fastest. Compare with the new price of the same model and with other Delhi listings.
How to check a second hand almirah or wardrobe
- Doors. Open and close every door; they should hang straight and shut without lifting. Sliding doors should glide, not jump the track.
- Locks and keys. Try each lock and locker and count the keys. A missing key on a steel almirah means a locksmith.
- Rust and damp. Check the bottom edge, back and base of a steel almirah for rust; check board wardrobes for swollen edges.
- Interior. Shelves, hanging rod, mirror and drawers should all be present and firm.
- Size. Measure the wardrobe, your doorway, staircase and lift. Tall units often go in laid flat.
Moving furniture across Delhi
A tempo or loader is the usual answer; most buyers find one near any furniture market or through the seller. DDA flats and builder floors in Dwarka, Rohini, Laxmi Nagar and Lajpat Nagar often have narrow stairwells and no lift, so ask whether the piece dismantles. Gated societies in Dwarka and across the border in Noida and Gurgaon need a gate pass and have timing rules for loaders. Cross-city trips — Rohini to Saket, say — are long in peak hours; buy on your own side of the Ring Road when you can.
A steel almirah moves in one piece and needs two people; empty it, tape the doors shut and measure the stairwell first.
Pay safely
Meet the seller at the address where the item is kept, in daylight. Never pay an advance or "token" online for something you have not seen, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to make a payment — pay by cash or UPI in person after inspecting it.
