What buyers want to know about a used bed
- Size. Single, double, queen (5 × 6.5 ft) or king (6 × 6.5 ft). Give the exact dimensions — mattresses are bought to fit.
- Material. Solid wood (teak, sheesham, mango), engineered wood, or metal. Solid wood beds hold their value far better.
- Storage. Box storage, hydraulic lift-up storage or drawers; say whether the hydraulics still work smoothly.
- Mattress. Whether it is included, its brand and age. Many buyers want the bed only, so offer both options.
How to price a used bed
Look at what similar beds — same size, material and type of storage — are listed for in your city today, and adjust for age, wobbling joints, broken slats, scratches and any termite damage. Our furniture price calculator gives you a starting range. A mattress adds little to the price unless it is nearly new.
Photos and the ad
Photograph the bed made up and then bare: the headboard, the frame corners, the storage open, the slats or base, and any damage. Put the size, material and storage in the title — "Sheesham king size bed with hydraulic storage" gets more replies than "bed for sale".
Dismantling and pickup
Most beds come apart with a screwdriver or Allen key. Mention whether you will dismantle it, or whether the buyer should bring a carpenter. Say clearly that the buyer arranges the tempo and labour — Olditems does not arrange pickup — and mention your floor and lift.
Selling safely
Let the buyer inspect at your home with someone else present, and hand over only after the full payment has reached your bank account. Never share an OTP or scan a buyer's QR code to receive money. See our safety tips.
