Where used almirahs turn up in Bengaluru
Engineered-wood and sliding wardrobes come mostly from the apartment belt — Whitefield, Marathahalli, Bellandur, Sarjapur Road and Electronic City — as tenants move out. Steel almirahs list from older homes and PG belts in Jayanagar, Malleshwaram, BTM Layout and Rajajinagar. HSR, Koramangala and Indiranagar list a mix, including branded modular units when a family upgrades. Hebbal and Yelahanka list family wardrobes as households move north.
What a used almirah costs in Bengaluru
Branded steel almirahs hold value best and often list at around half of new. Solid-wood wardrobes sit a little lower; engineered-wood and sliding units drop fastest because the board and rollers wear. Compare with the new price of the same model and with other Bengaluru listings.
How to check a second hand almirah or wardrobe
- Doors. Open and close every door; they should hang straight and shut without lifting. Sliding doors should glide, not jump the track.
- Locks and keys. Try each lock and locker and count the keys. A missing key on a steel almirah means a locksmith.
- Rust and damp. Check the bottom edge, back and base of a steel almirah for rust; check board wardrobes for swollen edges.
- Interior. Shelves, hanging rod, mirror and drawers should all be present and firm.
- Size. Measure the wardrobe, your doorway, staircase and lift. Tall units often go in laid flat.
Moving furniture across Bengaluru
Bengaluru's apartment complexes in Whitefield, Bellandur, Sarjapur Road and Yelahanka need a gate pass and a booked service lift for both the seller and you; ask about move-out timing before you book a tempo. Older independent houses in Jayanagar, Malleshwaram and Basavanagudi have stairs instead. The Outer Ring Road and Silk Board stretches take an hour or more in the evening, so buy on your own side of the city or move on a weekend morning.
A steel almirah moves in one piece and needs two people; empty it, tape the doors shut and book the service lift at both ends.
Pay safely
Meet the seller at the address where the item is kept, in daylight. Never pay an advance or "token" online for something you have not seen, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to make a payment — pay by cash or UPI in person after inspecting it. Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold payment. Read our safety tips and browse all used furniture in Bengaluru.
