What buyers check in a used almirah
- Size and doors. Height, width, depth and whether it is single, double or triple door. Give the measurements — buyers check them against their room and staircase.
- Steel or wood. For steel, mention the brand if you know it and whether the sheet feels heavy-gauge. For wood, say solid wood or engineered board.
- Locker and keys. Whether the inner locker works and you have all the keys. A missing key is the most common reason buyers walk away.
- Rust and dents. Check the base and corners, where rust starts. Photograph any dents honestly.
- Inside. Shelves, hanging rod, mirror and drawers — and whether they are all present.
How to price a used almirah
Compare with almirahs of the same size, material and maker currently listed in your city. Steel almirahs from established makers in rust-free condition fetch noticeably more than unbranded ones; peeling paint and rust bring the price down, though a fresh coat of paint is cheap and can be worth doing before you sell. The furniture price calculator gives a starting range.
Photos that sell
Empty it first. Photograph it closed from the front, open with the shelves visible, the locker, the keys, the brand plate if there is one, and the base and corners.
Moving it
A steel almirah is heavy and awkward on stairs, so mention your floor and lift size. The buyer usually arranges the tempo and labour; Olditems does not arrange pickup. Wooden wardrobes may need dismantling — say whether you will do it.
