Where outdoor furniture sells
- Local classifieds. Olditems, OLX and Facebook Marketplace reach people setting up a new balcony or terrace. Use words buyers search for: "balcony set", "garden chair", "swing chair", "cane", "wicker", "patio table".
- Your society or neighbourhood group. Hanging swings and balcony sets suit the same flat layouts, so a neighbour is often the easiest buyer.
- Cafés, farmhouses and homestays. Small businesses furnishing an outdoor seating area sometimes buy sets in bulk. Mention if you have several matching chairs.
- Scrap dealer. Rusted wrought iron and broken aluminium frames are worth something as metal when they are no longer usable.
What buyers check, so show it
- Rust and joints on metal and wrought-iron frames, and the welds on swing stands.
- Cane and wicker for loose strands, sagging seats and brittleness from sun exposure.
- Wood for grey weathering, cracks and softness from rain.
- Plastic and resin chairs for fading and hairline cracks near the legs.
- Swings for the chain, hook and cushion condition, and whether the stand is included or it needs a ceiling hook.
Clean the piece, tighten screws and photograph it outdoors in daylight. Close-ups of any rust or wear build trust and save wasted visits.
Timing and pricing
Demand for balcony and garden furniture tends to pick up before the pleasant months, when people spend more time outside, and slows during heavy monsoon. Compare with current listings for similar sets and with new prices, then adjust for weathering. Include dimensions and whether a swing stand dismantles.
Handing over
Buyers usually collect; most chairs fit in a car and a swing stand in a small tempo. Take payment in full before handover and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to receive money.
