Where used beds turn up in Delhi
Dwarka and Rohini, with their DDA and group-housing societies, list the most family double and storage beds as people move within the city or out to the suburbs. South Delhi — Lajpat Nagar, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Greater Kailash — lists larger king and solid-wood beds, often because a family is upgrading. Single beds and cots follow the student calendar around North Campus, Mukherjee Nagar, Laxmi Nagar and Munirka. East Delhi around Mayur Vihar and Preet Vihar sits in between. For a new-price benchmark, the Kirti Nagar and Panchkuian Road furniture markets are a short visit.
What a used bed costs in Delhi
A solid-wood or metal double bed lists at a third to half of its new price; engineered-wood hydraulic beds drop faster because the lift wears. Many sellers include the mattress — decide in advance whether you want it and ask for a lower price without it. The furniture price calculator gives a second opinion.
How to check a second hand bed
- See it assembled. Sit, lie and press on the middle. Nothing should creak, flex or rock.
- Slats and base. Lift the mattress and check every slat or the ply base for cracks and sag.
- Storage lift. Raise and lower a hydraulic bed several times; a stiff or dropping lift means tired pistons.
- Borer and damp. Pinholes with fine dust mean borer; swollen board edges mean water.
- Hardware. Ask for every bolt, bracket and the Allen key before you pay.
Moving furniture across Delhi
A tempo or loader is the usual answer; most buyers find one near any furniture market or through the seller. DDA flats and builder floors in Dwarka, Rohini, Laxmi Nagar and Lajpat Nagar often have narrow stairwells and no lift, so ask whether the piece dismantles. Gated societies in Dwarka and across the border in Noida and Gurgaon need a gate pass and have timing rules for loaders. Cross-city trips — Rohini to Saket, say — are long in peak hours; buy on your own side of the Ring Road when you can.
Ask the seller to dismantle the bed before you arrive, or bring tools and do it together; a dismantled double bed fits a small tempo and a builder-floor staircase.
Pay safely
Meet the seller at the address where the item is kept, in daylight. Never pay an advance or "token" online for something you have not seen, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to make a payment — pay by cash or UPI in person after inspecting it. Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold payment. Read our safety tips and browse all used furniture in Delhi.
