Where used dining sets turn up in Delhi
Large sheesham and teak sets list from family homes in South Delhi — Greater Kailash, Saket, Vasant Kunj, Malviya Nagar — and from Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden and Pitampura, usually because a family is upgrading or dividing a house. Compact and folding 4-seaters come from rentals in Laxmi Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar and Dwarka. Glass-top and 6-seater engineered-wood sets come from newer flats in Dwarka, Rohini and across into Noida and Gurgaon. Walk through Kirti Nagar or Panchkuian Road first for a new-price benchmark.
What a used dining set costs in Delhi
A solid sheesham or teak 6-seater lists at a third to half of its new price and holds value well; glass-top and engineered-wood sets lower. A full set of matching chairs is worth a little extra, because chairs are what wear.
How to check a second hand dining set
- Wobble. Press down on each corner of the table and rock every chair. Loose joints are fixable but should lower the price.
- Top. Look along the surface in daylight for heat rings, deep scratches and lifting veneer; check glass edges for chips.
- Chairs. Sit in every chair and check the seat fabric, cane or cushion and each leg.
- Extensions. If the table extends or folds, operate it fully.
- Size. Measure your dining space with chairs pulled out, and the route in.
Moving furniture across Delhi
A tempo or loader is the usual answer; most buyers find one near any furniture market or through the seller. DDA flats and builder floors in Dwarka, Rohini, Laxmi Nagar and Lajpat Nagar often have narrow stairwells and no lift, so ask whether the piece dismantles. Gated societies in Dwarka and across the border in Noida and Gurgaon need a gate pass and have timing rules for loaders. Cross-city trips — Rohini to Saket, say — are long in peak hours; buy on your own side of the Ring Road when you can.
Most tables unscrew from their legs and chairs stack, so a 6-seater fits a small tempo. Wrap a glass top and carry it flat.
Pay safely
Meet the seller at the address where the item is kept, in daylight. Never pay an advance or "token" online for something you have not seen, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to make a payment — pay by cash or UPI in person after inspecting it. Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold payment. Read our safety tips and browse all used furniture in Delhi.
