The coaching and student areas around Gopalpura, Tonk Road and Mahesh Nagar turn over study tables, chairs, bookshelves and mattresses on the academic calendar, which is the cheapest end of the market. Older colonies and the walled city sometimes list carved sheesham pieces, jharokha-style frames and traditional seating; those are collectible furniture and should be judged on the wood and the workmanship, not the polish.
