Delhi buyers judge used laptops against Nehru Place — the city’s long-running computer market, where refurbished machines, spares and repairs sit side by side. A private seller should beat those prices, and with a careful check you can get a well-kept laptop, desktop or monitor for far less than new.
These listings are from owners across Delhi. Meet, test and pay the seller directly, with no commission.
A checklist for a used laptop
- Battery health. On Windows, run powercfg /batteryreport and compare the design capacity with the full-charge capacity. On a MacBook, look at the cycle count and condition under System Information. A tired battery is a real extra cost.
- BIOS and account locks. Restart and open the BIOS setup — a password you cannot clear is a serious problem. On a MacBook, confirm the seller has signed out of their Apple ID and Find My has been switched off.
- Company laptops. An asset sticker, a login screen with a company domain or device-management software means it may still belong to an employer. Walk away unless the seller has a release letter.
- Screen, keyboard and ports. Check for dead pixels, test every key, and plug something into each USB and HDMI port and the charging socket.
- Heat and noise. Delhi summers cook laptops. Run a video for a while and listen for a loud fan, and feel the base for hot spots.
Using Nehru Place as a benchmark
Before you meet a seller, compare the same model’s refurbished price at Nehru Place and its price in current listings here. A private sale should come in below a dealer’s refurbished price, because there is no dealer warranty. If you would rather have that warranty, our guide to refurbished vs second hand laptops sets out the trade-off. Nehru Place is also handy afterwards for a new battery, charger or RAM upgrade.
Where the listings come from
Students around North Campus, Mukherjee Nagar and Laxmi Nagar sell laptops at the end of courses and coaching terms. Professionals in South Delhi, Dwarka and Rohini list business laptops and monitors when they upgrade. Browse used laptops across India or laptops under ₹20,000.
