Browse used mobile phones listed by people across India — iPhones, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Realme and more, often sold when the owner upgrades. A well-kept old phone can do everything most people need at a fraction of the new price.
Contact the seller directly, test the phone in person and pay only when you are satisfied. Olditems takes no commission and never handles payment or delivery.
Check the IMEI first
Dial *#06# on the phone and note the IMEI number (dual-SIM phones show two). It should match the IMEI printed on the box and on the original bill. Then check it on the government's Sanchar Saathi portal (the CEIR system) under "Know Your Mobile", or by SMS as described there — it tells you whether the handset is reported lost, stolen or blocked. A blocked phone will not work on any Indian network, so walk away if the numbers do not match or the status is not clean.
Make sure it is unlocked from the old owner
- iPhone. Ask the seller to sign out of their Apple ID and turn off Find My, then erase the phone in front of you. If it still asks for someone else's Apple ID after the reset, it is activation-locked and useless to you.
- Android. The seller should remove their Google account before a factory reset. Otherwise Factory Reset Protection (FRP) will demand the old account on setup.
Hardware checklist
- Battery. On an iPhone see Settings → Battery → Battery Health. On Android, check the battery section or a diagnostics menu, and watch whether the charge drops fast while you test.
- Screen and touch. Look for lines, dead spots, green or pink tint and burn-in on a plain white screen. Drag an app icon across every corner to test touch.
- Cameras. Take photos and a video on every rear lens and the front camera; check focus, flash and that no dust sits behind the glass.
- Ports and buttons. Plug in a charger and a cable, make a call on speaker and earpiece, and press every button.
- Water damage. Many phones have a liquid indicator in the SIM tray slot that turns red or pink after water exposure. Fogged cameras are another warning sign.
Bill, warranty and refurbished phones
Ask for the original bill and box — they prove ownership and may carry any remaining brand warranty. A "refurbished" phone has been repaired and checked by a seller; a used phone is sold as-is by its owner. Neither is automatically better, so test every phone the same way. Read how to price a used iPhone and whether a used item's warranty transfers to you.
Fair price and safe dealing
Compare similar current listings, then adjust for battery health, storage, scratches and accessories. Meet in a busy public place, test the phone on your own SIM, and never pay a token or advance online, share an OTP or scan a QR code to "receive" money — see our safety tips. On a budget? Try phones under ₹10,000 or under ₹20,000.
