Bengaluru's second hand furniture markets
- Shivajinagar and Infantry Road. The long-standing cluster of used and restored furniture shops in the centre — teak and rosewood pieces, dining sets, beds, sofas and office furniture. Prices are negotiable; restoration is often done on site.
- Dealers along the apartment belt. Used-furniture dealers around Marathahalli, Old Madras Road, Bellandur, Sarjapur Road and Electronic City buy from tenants leaving the city, with same-day pickup, and resell to new arrivals. They deliver, and prices are set for people in a hurry.
- Rental and buyback outlets. Furniture rental companies sell off ex-rental stock in Bengaluru at fixed prices — predictable, but rarely cheaper than an owner listing.
How the market prices against owners
Dealers pay low when a tenant is leaving and sell at roughly double, more for solid wood. An owner selling the same sofa or wardrobe directly usually asks a third to half of new — below the dealer price — but you arrange the tempo and inspect it yourself. For a single piece, the owner route is nearly always cheaper; for a whole flat on a deadline, the dealer wins on speed and delivery.
Using the market well
- Check new prices online first so a dealer's "half price" means something.
- Inspect the underside and back — shops repolish the top.
- Negotiate on several pieces together and get delivery included in writing.
- Ask whether a restored piece has been treated for borer, not just repolished.
Owner listings by item
Compare the dealers with what Bengaluru owners are asking: sofas, beds, almirahs and wardrobes and dining tables.
Pay safely
Meet the seller at the address where the item is kept, in daylight. Never pay an advance or "token" online for something you have not seen, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to make a payment — pay by cash or UPI in person after inspecting it. Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold payment. Read our safety tips and browse all used furniture in Bengaluru.
