Where used dining sets turn up in Mumbai
4-seater and folding sets come from 1BHK and 2BHK flats across Andheri, Goregaon, Malad and Kandivali. Larger 6-seater wooden sets list from family homes in Chembur, Ghatkopar, Mulund and Thane and from tower flats in Powai and Kharghar when a family upgrades. Solid teak and sheesham sets from older homes in Dadar, Matunga and Bandra appear occasionally and go fast.
What a used dining set costs in Mumbai
A solid-wood 6-seater from a household lists at a third to half of its new price; glass-top and engineered-wood sets lower. A full set of matching chairs is worth a little extra, because chairs are what wear and matching replacements are hard to find.
How to check a second hand dining set
- Wobble. Press down on each corner of the table and rock every chair. Loose joints are fixable but should lower the price.
- Top. Look along the surface in daylight for heat rings, deep scratches and lifting veneer; check glass edges for chips.
- Chairs. Sit in every chair and check the seat fabric, cane or cushion and each leg.
- Extensions. If the table extends or folds, operate it fully.
- Size. Measure your dining space with chairs pulled out, and the route in.
Moving furniture across Mumbai
Distance in Mumbai is measured in time, not kilometres, so buy on your own side of the city where you can — western suburbs to western suburbs, Thane and Navi Mumbai to themselves. A small tempo handles most single pieces; book it for a weekday morning if the route crosses the Western Express Highway or the Eastern Freeway. Older buildings in Dadar, Matunga, Girgaon and the chawl belts have narrow staircases and no lift, while tower societies in Powai, Goregaon and Kharghar need a gate pass and a service-lift booking. Avoid moving upholstered or wooden pieces in the monsoon unless they are wrapped.
Most tables unscrew from their legs and chairs stack, so a 6-seater fits a small tempo. Wrap a glass top and carry it flat.
Pay safely
Meet the seller at the address where the item is kept, in daylight. Never pay an advance or "token" online for something you have not seen, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to make a payment — pay by cash or UPI in person after inspecting it. Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold payment. Read our safety tips and browse all used furniture in Mumbai.
