Pick your city
Pick your city to see every second hand item listed there: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Noida, Ahmedabad, Thane, Ghaziabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh. Any other town works too — open all listings and type your city in the location filter.
What people near you are selling
- Furniture. Sofas, beds, almirahs, dining sets and office furniture — the biggest category, driven by flat moves.
- Electronics. Phones, laptops, TVs, cameras and speakers. Test the device switched on, and ask for the bill and box.
- Home appliances. Fridges, washing machines, ACs and microwaves. Ask to see it running, and plan the transport — a fridge must travel upright.
- Vehicles. Bikes, scooters, cycles and cars. Check the RC, insurance and service record, and do a test ride.
- Books and sports gear, fashion, home and garden. Small items that are easy to collect and usually very cheap second hand.
Why "near me" matters for used items
With second hand goods, distance is cost. A nearby seller means you can see and test the item before paying, collect it the same day, and skip courier damage and courier scams altogether. It also means an easy return visit if something is not as described — which is why experienced buyers filter by their own part of the city first and widen the search only if nothing turns up.
How to buy well from a nearby seller
- Message or call through the listing, ask the exact model, age and any faults, and request a photo of the item switched on or a short video.
- Agree the price before you travel, with "subject to inspection" understood.
- Test everything on the spot: switch on appliances, run devices for a few minutes, check vehicle papers, sit on furniture.
- Pay in person by cash or UPI once satisfied. Never pay an advance online to "hold" an item.
Buying safely from a stranger near you
- Meet at the address where the item is kept, in daylight, and take someone with you for larger pieces.
- Pay only after you have seen and tested the item. Never send an advance, "token" or delivery charge online to hold something you have not seen.
- Pay by cash or UPI to the seller in front of you. Nobody needs your OTP, and you never scan a QR code to receive money.
- Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold stock — you and the owner settle price, payment and transport between yourselves. Read our safety tips first.
