Where used dining sets turn up in Hyderabad
Compact 4-seater and foldable tables list from flats in Gachibowli, Kondapur and Madhapur, where tenants furnished small dining spaces. Kukatpally, KPHB and Miyapur list full 6-seater sets — glass-top, marble-top and engineered-wood — from families upgrading or relocating. Secunderabad, Marredpally and Begumpet are where solid teak and sheesham tables appear from older homes; they are heavier but often only need a polish.
What a used dining set costs in Hyderabad
Solid-wood sets hold value best; glass and engineered-wood sets drop faster, especially if the chair fabric is worn. A set sold by a family on a moving deadline is usually the best deal. Check what the chairs are worth separately — a good table with tired chairs can still be a fair buy if the price reflects it.
How to check a second hand dining set
- Wobble. Press down on each corner of the table and rock every chair. Loose joints are fixable but should lower the price.
- Top. Look along the surface in daylight for heat rings, deep scratches and lifting veneer; check glass edges for chips.
- Chairs. Sit in every chair and check the seat fabric, cane or cushion and each leg.
- Extensions. If the table extends or folds, operate it fully.
- Size. Measure your dining space with chairs pulled out, and the route in.
Moving furniture across Hyderabad
Gated communities in Gachibowli, Kondapur, Nanakramguda and Miyapur need a gate pass and a booked service lift at both ends, so ask the seller to arrange the pickup slot before you book a tempo. Independent houses in Secunderabad, Begumpet and Ameerpet usually have stairs instead of a lift — ask whether the piece dismantles. A run between Kukatpally and the Financial District, or across to Secunderabad, takes a long time in the evening; move on a weekend morning or buy on your own side of the city when you can.
Glass tops must travel separately, upright and wrapped. Ask the seller whether the legs unbolt from the top before you book the tempo.
Pay safely
Meet the seller at the address where the item is kept, in daylight. Never pay an advance or "token" online for something you have not seen, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to make a payment — pay by cash or UPI in person after inspecting it. Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold payment. Read our safety tips and browse all used furniture in Hyderabad.
