Owner listings near you, before the shop gets them
Google cannot show your exact street on one national page, so pick your city — each city page shows used furniture listed by owners in that city only: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Noida, Ahmedabad, Thane, Ghaziabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh. Not listed? Use the city filter on the used furniture page and type your city or area.
How second hand furniture shops work
- Where the stock comes from. Dealers buy from families moving out, offices closing and hotels refurbishing, usually with same-day pickup. They pay low because they must clean, repair, store and deliver.
- How they price. Typically double what they paid, sometimes more for solid wood, recliners and branded steel almirahs. Everything is negotiable, especially late in the month and for multiple pieces.
- What you get for the margin. Choice in one place, light repairs done, delivery in a day or two. What you do not get: the item's history, and often any guarantee once it leaves the shop.
Second hand furniture markets by city
Most metros have a known cluster: used furniture dealers around Amar Colony in Lajpat Nagar and the lanes behind Kirti Nagar in Delhi; Oshiwara and Jogeshwari in Mumbai; Shivajinagar and the Infantry Road area in Bengaluru; the older markets in Pune's Camp and Hyderabad's old city, among others. Ask locally, because clusters move. Even if you plan to buy from an owner, a walk through the market and a look at new prices online gives you the benchmark to negotiate against.
Owner or shop — a quick decision
- Buy from an owner when price matters, you can wait a few days for the right piece, and you can book a tempo. You see how the furniture was used and usually pay a third to half of new.
- Buy from a shop when you need several pieces now and want delivery handled. Check every item the same way you would at an owner's home, and get the price in writing.
Checking furniture in a shop or a home
Lift and rock frames, open every door and drawer, run every mechanism, look underneath for borer holes and swollen board, and smell the upholstery. Shops polish surfaces; the underside tells the truth. Our guide to buying second hand furniture near you goes through each piece in detail.
Buying safely from a stranger near you
- Meet at the address where the item is kept, in daylight, and take someone with you for larger pieces.
- Pay only after you have seen and tested the item. Never send an advance, "token" or delivery charge online to hold something you have not seen.
- Pay by cash or UPI to the seller in front of you. Nobody needs your OTP, and you never scan a QR code to receive money.
- Olditems does not sell, deliver or hold stock — you and the owner settle price, payment and transport between yourselves. Read our safety tips first.
