Used furniture is the busiest category in Pune, and for a good reason: the IT corridors at Hinjewadi, Wakad and Kharadi run on rented flats, so beds, wardrobes, sofas, dining tables and work-from-home desks come back on the market every lease cycle — usually two to three years old and barely worn.
Browse what sellers near you have listed, message them directly and see the piece before you pay. There is no commission, and nothing is shipped: you collect it yourself or arrange a tempo.
Where used furniture comes from in Pune
West Pune — Hinjewadi, Wakad, Baner, Balewadi, Aundh and Pimple Saudagar — carries the largest share: single and queen beds, two-door wardrobes, study desks, office chairs and compact sofas from flat-shares. East Pune around Kharadi, Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar and Magarpatta is where family-sized pieces appear: L-shaped sofas, six-seater dining sets, king beds and full wardrobes. Kothrud, Karve Nagar, Warje and Sinhagad Road follow the student calendar, so study tables, chairs, mattresses and bookshelves list heavily around admissions and again at the end of the year. Camp, Deccan and the old city are where solid teak and older wooden furniture occasionally surfaces — worth more than new particle-board at the same price. Pimpri-Chinchwad listings from Chinchwad, Nigdi, Akurdi, Ravet and Moshi appear here too.
What to check before you buy
- Monsoon damage. Pune's rains are heavy. Check the legs, the base and the back panel for swelling, soft edges, bubbling laminate or dark stains — the most common hidden fault in the city's used furniture.
- Solid wood or board. Tap a panel: solid wood sounds dense, engineered board sounds hollow. It should be reflected in the price.
- Joints and runners. Press the corners of beds and tables, and open every drawer. Wobble now becomes a repair later.
- Mattresses. Check for sagging, stains and smell. Many buyers prefer to take the bed frame and buy a new mattress.
- Dimensions. Measure your room, your doorway and your lift before you commit — not after.
Getting it home
Transport is the buyer's job unless you agree otherwise, and a tempo from Hinjewadi to Kharadi is a real cost on a small item. Ask the seller about lift access and society shifting hours before you fix the price, and whether the piece can be dismantled — a bed that comes apart is far cheaper to move than one that does not.
