Find used beds listed by people across India — single beds, double beds, queen and king beds with hydraulic or box storage, metal cots and diwans. Many come from rented flats and relocating families, so frames in good condition are common.
Message the seller, check the bed in person and arrange pickup yourself. There is no commission, and Olditems never handles payment or delivery.
Know your bed size
Indian beds are built around standard mattress sizes, so match the frame to the mattress you have or plan to buy:
- Single — around 72 x 36 inches, for a child's room or a PG.
- Double / three-quarter — around 72 x 48 inches, compact for one adult or a small room.
- Queen — around 75 x 60 or 78 x 60 inches, the most common size for couples.
- King — around 78 x 72 inches, needs a large bedroom and a wide door path.
Measure the inside of the frame, not just the outside, and ask the seller for the exact mattress size it takes.
Storage or plain: what to test
- Hydraulic storage beds. Lift the platform fully and let it settle. Good pistons hold it open without help; weak ones let it drop, which is a safety risk. Look for oil leaks on the cylinders.
- Box storage beds. Remove the plywood lids and check the box base for damp, sagging and pests. Lids should sit flat.
- Plain beds, cots and diwans. Easy to move and to clean under. Check welds on metal cots and the side rails on diwans.
Material and condition
Sheesham and teak beds are heavy and long-lasting; engineered wood is lighter and cheaper but weakens if it gets wet or is dismantled roughly. Metal beds are sturdy but should be checked for rust and loose bolts. Press on each corner and the headboard to test the joints, look at the slats or base board for cracks, and sit on the edges to hear any creaking.
Check for termites: tiny holes, fine powder under the bed, mud tubes on the legs or wood that sounds hollow. If you find any, walk away or factor in treatment.
Mattresses and hygiene
A used mattress needs a close look — seams, stains, sagging, odour and bed bugs. Many buyers take the frame and buy a new mattress, which is often the sensible choice.
Dismantling, price and a safe deal
Most wooden beds come apart into headboard, side rails and base. Ask the seller to dismantle it before pickup, keep all screws in a labelled bag and photograph the joints so you can reassemble it. Compare the asking price with similar current listings and adjust for material, age and storage type.
