Browse old and second hand home decor listed by people across India — wall mirrors, table and floor lamps, paintings and wall art, brass and wooden showpieces, wooden mandir units, planters, curtains and rugs. Decor often comes up when families move house or redo a room, and good pieces can be picked up for far less than new.
Contact the seller directly, see the piece in person and arrange pickup between you. Olditems takes no commission and never handles payment or delivery.
What to check, item by item
- Mirrors. Look for black spots or silvering loss at the edges, cracks hidden under the frame and a firm hanging hook. A heavy mirror needs a strong wall fixing.
- Lamps and lights. Plug it in and test it at the seller's place. Check the wire for cuts, a loose holder and a wobbly base. Ask which bulb type it takes.
- Wall art and paintings. Check the canvas or print for damp marks, fading and fungus, and the frame corners for gaps and termite holes.
- Mandir and temple units. Open every door and drawer, check the hinges and the base, and look for termite powder in the corners. Measure the niche or wall where it will go.
- Planters. Ceramic and terracotta chip and crack easily; fill one with water or tap it to hear a crack. Metal planters rust at the base.
- Curtains and rugs. Unfold them fully. Check for fading on the sun-facing side, stains, moth damage and a musty smell, and measure the drop or size against your window or floor.
Brass, wood and "antique" claims
Solid brass is heavy for its size and a magnet will not stick to it; if a magnet sticks, it is plated iron or steel. Brass-plated items show a different metal where the finish has worn off. Solid wood carvings have grain that runs through the edges and back, while resin and MDF look uniform and feel lighter. Treat "antique" or "very old" as a claim to verify, not a fact, and pay for the piece in front of you rather than its story.
Fair price and a safe deal
Compare the asking price with similar current listings, and weigh size, material and condition. Inspect the item before you pay, never send a token or advance online, and never share an OTP or scan a QR code to "receive" money — read our safety tips.
Getting fragile pieces home
Carry blankets or bubble wrap and cardboard for mirrors, glass and framed art. Transport mirrors and paintings upright, never flat, and tape an X across large glass. Wrap brass and ceramic separately so they do not knock together.
